Welcome to the website of the EHRland project.

One of the key challenges in health informatics is the need to conveniently share patient records across health provider organisations. There are several standardisation projects addressing the need to digitally represent clinical data (e.g. HL7 CDA, EN13606 (EHRcom) and OpenEHR). The EHR formal ISO standards HL7 CDA and EHRcom aim to structure and code the clinical content for the purposes of exchange. The central thrust of the health informatics standardisation in Europe has been towards a European standard for health record communication called EN13606

A technological assessment of the five-part EN13606 standard in line with HIQA interests is the primary focus of EHRland . The project examines the effectiveness of employing user archetypes to allow domain experts to reach agreement on the information to be exchanged and the context of that information. Consequently, another aim of this research is integration of EHRcom representative compatibility into legacy Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems.
